National Cadet Corps (NCC)

OBJECTIVE

The NCC is a voluntary training programme offered to students of all streams in the college to prepare and groom students so that they imbibe leadership qualities, discipline, important skills, and spirit of service for the nation. The NCC provides basic military training to students along with the opportunity to participate and contribute in various nation-building schemes and programs of the government. The main objective behind the NCC is to train youth to lead a disciplined, organised and motivated life ahead.

COMPOSITION

Dr. Bhawana Kumari is the co-ordinator of NCC in the college.

ACTIVITIES

• NCC students of R.L.S.Y. College have been active in social service and community programmes.
• The Ranchi University, Ranchi aids for these programs and no fee is collected for the same from students.
• Some of the activities performed by the NCC of the college are as follows:
  1. Awareness program on AIDS, Anti-tobacco programme, etc.
  2. Blood Donation Camps
  3. Tree Plantation
  4. Rally on Movement for Polythene Free Jharkhand
  5. Awareness Program on Water Harvesting
  6. Campus Cleanliness program – Swacchta Abhiyaan
  7. Initiatives taken to clean public ponds and water bodies
  8. Conducting programmes to celebrate Republic Day, Independence Day, Constitution Day, and other important national and international events.

ELIGIBILITY

Students from B.A./B.Sc/B.Com streams of R.L.S.Y. College in any year may join NCC. However their selection depends upon seat available and selection criterion stipulated by NCC Program Officer. The NCC has two wings – the Junior wing and the Senior wing, and the student must meet the required criteria to join either wing.

CERTIFICATE

The NCC offers three types of certificates, based on the duration and performance of the students during the training programme:

• ‘B’ Certificate
• ‘C’ Certificate
